Abstract

There have been reports lately and noticeable rise in cases of rape and abuse of ladies in the country which has resulted in suggestions that the laws in place presently made to tackle this misbehavior have been somewhat futile. Therefore, in this writing, we are trying to indicate the "ineffective" areas in the present laws which are hindering the successful prosecution of cases of rape against women or girls in Nigeria. The response of country’s laws to these "ineffective" areas were deliberated upon. We therefore indicated some legal actions that can be taken couple these areas in the laws which will make them more effective in tackling the rising cases of rape of lasses in Nigeria.
