MEDIA REPORTAGE AND THE PROMOTION OF GOOD GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA’S DEMOCRATIC SYSTEMMEDIA REPORTAGE

Abstract

This paper elucidates how to promote good governance through quality media reportage, separation of power, intra-party democracy and quality representation as the tripod upon which a progressive democracy stands. The paper a conceptualization of these terms, the lessons for Nigeria and the way forward. It adopts the development media theory to give the work a theoretical base. The study concluded that good welfare package, effective training of journalists, and the use of modern investigative techniques could go a long way in helping the media play its role in promoting collegiality in governance in Nigeria. It is recommended that the mass media be socially and politically responsible in reporting government related issues to promote good governance in Nigeria.
